About Doodlher

I’m Doodlher, an artist and illustrator based in the North West of the UK, living and working between Rochdale (Greater Manchester) and Calderdale (West Yorkshire).

I’m known for my detailed black and white pen illustrations, often of landmarks, but in truth anything can turn up in one of my pictures.  My artwork always incorporates black pen, sometimes on its own, sometimes set against vibrant colour backgrounds, digital and painted.

My real name is Victoria – Vic for short – and I’ve been drawing for as  long as I can remember. I mostly work on paper at my desk easel, but every so often I’ll” go big” and create a mural.

I am inspired by people, places and the stories that connect them together. I see my drawings as a lens into our lives. A snapshot of who we are. The story of how we got here.

Images are such a powerful tool for communication. They can trigger memories, spark curiosity about a topic, make people smile. I really love the process of getting stuck into a theme or memories of a moment in time to create an illustration that immortalises it forever. It’s a magical thing really.

I’ve worked on all kinds of projects, big and small, from personal commissions (wedding mementos, travel memory collages, housewarming gifts) to larger commissions for businesses, organisations and public spaces. Take a look at my online portfolio to browse some of my projects.

I enjoy the process of developing  an idea into a piece of bespoke artwork that captures the vision – and the curiosity of the audience

Beyond any commissioned work, I always have my own personal projects running in the background. Whatever inspires me in my day-to-day life will likely get doodled. I also thoroughly enjoy creating little paper curiosities and hiding them outdoors in the wild. These little pasteups often have their own stories behind them. I hope that they bring a little big of light and positivity to whoever finds them. I tend to choose spots that are a bit dark, unloved or unseen. As a street art hunter myself, I can really appreciate the joy of finding a surprise piece of art in an unexpected place.
